Rochard Bluebird and Birdhouse Limoges Box

A blue bird has made itself at home in a birdhouse on this Rochard Limoges box, a cheerful scene from any backyard in spring. Every detail, from the little house to its tenant, was painted by hand in Limoges, France.

Home Sweet Birdhouse

For generations, the bluebird has been a symbol of happiness and good fortune, and few sights brighten a spring morning like one peeking out of a nest box. Gardeners put up houses each year hoping to welcome a nesting pair. This piece captures that hopeful moment when a new tenant moves in.

Bluebird of Happiness

• A Rochard design, hand-painted in Limoges, France
• A blue bird settled in a birdhouse
• Fits a bluebird, songbird or backyard garden collection

A Window on the Garden

Set it on a sill that looks out over the garden, on a country cottage shelf or among other bird pieces in a sunroom. Because the bluebird signals happiness, it makes a cheerful housewarming present for someone moving into a new home. It also suits a backyard birder, a garden club friend or anyone who keeps a feeder stocked all winter. Spring birthdays are a natural fit, too.

Limoges porcelain is hard-paste porcelain, fired at very high heat, which helps cheerful little pieces like this one last for many springs to come.
